Nayuribe Montero is a sound designer and production sound mixer born in Costa Rica and currently based in Mexico. She has worked on projects for Latin America, North America, the Caribbean, Asia and Europe. Her projects have been presented at prestigious international festivals such as La Biennale di Venezia, Visions du Réel, Rotterdam, Locarno, San Sebastián, Biarritz, VIFF, Hot Docs, Toronto, among others.
She has been working as a production sound mixer for fiction and documentary for over a decade. Among her notable projects is “It Would Be Night in Caracas” (2025), directed by Mariana Rondón and Marité Ugás, which premiered at La Biennale di Venezia and the Toronto International Film Festival and won the Special Jury Prize – Silver Columbus Award at the Huelva International Film Festival. Also noteworthy is “Aurora,” a feature film by director Paz Fábrega, which premiered at the Rotterdam International Film Festival (2021) and won the award for best Costa Rican film at CRFIC (2021). Also, the film “The Moon Will Contain Us” by Kim Torres, which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival (2023).As a sound designer and post-production sound supervisor, her work on “Scarlet Girls,” by Dominican director Paula Cury, stands out. The film won awards for best documentary feature and best director at the Guadalajara International Film Festival (2026), following its screenings at SXSW, CPH.DOX, and Hot Docs. Also noteworthy are “Our Body Is an Expanding Star,” which premiered at IDFA (2025), and “Your Touch Makes Others Invisible,” a Sri Lankan film that premiered in Rotterdam in 2025 and won the Spirit Award (2026) in the Truer than Fiction category.She graduated in sound for films from the prestigious International Film and Television School of San Antonio de los Baños (Cuba). She has a Master's degree in communication and graduated in audiovisual production from the University of Costa Rica. She is also a scenic artist and dancer, graduated from the National University of Costa Rica and the Castella Conservatory.She was selected as a sound engineer at Berlinale Talents (Germany, 2026), at Talents Guadalajara (Mexico, 2020), as sound director at the Castello Errante International Film Residency (Italy, 2021), and received a Genelec scholarship to participate in Media Sound Hamburg (Germany, 2022). In 2024, she was awarded the Ícaro Central American Prize for Best Sound for the film "La Hija de Lázaro".

Nayuribe Montero es una diseñadora de sonido y sonidista costarricense, residente en México. Ha trabajado en proyectos para América Latina, Norte América, el Caribe, Asia y Europa. Sus proyectos se han presentado en relevantes Festivales internacionales como La Biennale di Venezia, Visions du reel, Rotterdam, Locarno, San Sebastián, Biarritz, VIFF, Hot Docs, Toronto, entre otros.
Se ha desempeñado como sonidista de directo para ficción y documental desde hace más de una década. Entre sus proyectos se destacan “Aún es de Noche en Caracas” (2025), de las directoras Mariana Rondón y Marité Ugás, presentada en La Biennale di Venezia y en el festival de Toronto, ganadora del premio especial del jurado - Colón de Plata en el Festival de Huelva. También “Aurora”, largometraje de ficción de la directora de Paz Fábrega, que estrenó en el Festival de Cine de Rotterdam (2021) y obtuvo el premio a la mejor película costarricense en el CRFIC (2021). Asimismo destaca la película “Solo la luna comprenderá” de Kim Torres, que tuvo su premiere en el Festival de Cine de Locarno (2023).Como diseñadora sonora y post-productora se destaca su trabajo en “Niñas Escarlata”, de la directora dominicana Paula Cury, ganadora de los premios a mejor largometraje documental y mejor dirección en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Guadalajara (2026), tras su paso por los festivales SXSW, CPH.DOX y HotDocs. También sobresalen “Nuestro Cuerpo es una Estrella que se Expande”, estrenada en IDFA (2025) y “Your Touch Makes Others Invisible”, filme de Sri Lanka que tuvo su premiere en Rotterdam en el 2025 y obtuvo el Spirit Award (2026) en la categoría Truer than Fiction.Es graduada en la especialidad de sonido de la prestigiosa Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión de San Antonio de los Baños (Cuba). Tiene un Máster en comunicación y es graduada en producción audiovisual, por la Universidad de Costa Rica. Además, es artista escénica y bailarina, egresada de la Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica y el Conservatorio de Castella.Fue seleccionada como sonidista en el Berlinale Talents (Alemania, 2026), en el Talents de Guadalajara (México, 2020), como directora de sonido en la Residencia Internacional de Cine Castello Errante (Italia, 2021) y fue becada por Genelec para participar en el Media Sound Hamburg (Alemania, 2022). En el 2024 se le otorga el premio Ícaro de Centroamérica a mejor sonido por la película “La Hija de Lázaro”.
